Opera’s Villains is an opera remix structured like a musical theatre performance with a live orchestra in which Don Giovanni, Jago and Scarpia – 3 superstars from the traditional opera repertoire challenge each other for the title of cruellest of all.  Through the account of their struggles and malice, spectators will unravel opera plots in a new form blending stand-up comedy, live music and musical theatre.
All moderated by a ruthless actor-judge who, microphone at hand, like in a real wrestling match will act as referee for this extravagant Opera-contest. Yet again Gianluigi Toccafondo’s imagiation will provide spectators with video entr’actes with a grand- guignol taste and extravagant costumes inspired by Mexican wrestling. Opera’s Villains wants to continue the experimentation of Operacamion, a musical theatre format that brings opera, on truck, to town squares, defined by the New York Times as “a project capable of taking opera back to its roots.  We hope the 3 villains, signed by Mozart, Verdi and Puccini, will get the success they deserve even away from traditional limelight.
